This annual event, sponsored in part by The General Mills Foundation, Northrop Grumman, The City Of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, California Touch of Class, Inc., The Puffin Foundation, PALEF Members and Board of Directors. Products donated by “Pepperidge Farm Inc.”, the “Nestles Company of Products”, "Yoplait Yogurt Inc."; children in attendance receive toys, free of charge. The event caters to the entire family and opened to the public, with Santa, his elves, and our professional performance of this yearly musical extravaganza! Toys donated by "The Mattell Corporation", US Marines 'Toys For Tots' Program, The Mayor’s Office , Assemblman, Herb Wesson , County Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas' office and local City Council Member Jan Perry. Executive Producer, Charles Douglass, PALEF's Artistic Director, anticipates presenting this 10th edition at Los Angeles' Vermont Square United Methodist Church 4410 South Budlong Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90037 the third week in December 2010.
The event not only brings communities together, it also serves as a positive reminder of the meaning of this epic holiday season and what it truly stands for… “Peace on Earth, and goodwill to all men!”
A Brief Story Synopsis
This is the funky upbeat version of “The Gift of the Magi” story. Our musical play takes place in a ‘run of the mill’ community center and recreation hall, which becomes the center of national attention when “Oprah’s Angel’s Network” decides to pay a visit the center’s director to award a huge monetary gift for his good works with the citizens of that community. It is a heartwarming tale that brings a waning community together and proves that ‘miracles can happen’. Everybody is changed spiritually, including “Marie” the shunned bag lady of the local community.
